After finding a great wedding location, then finding the perfect dress, and then booking the photographer, florist, and band, I was so tired. I thought I was done with the wedding details, but I had completely forgotten bridal shoes! Little did I know that this would be so tricky. I had forgotten to purchase them before my dress and now I had to figure out what would work best. After that exhaustive search, I decided to write this article to help all future brides who faced the same problem as me. So, if you’ve just gotten engaged or you are just starting to look for your wedding dress, or if you’ve already purchased your dress and don’t know what to do, here are a few tips to help you choose the bridal shoe:
1. Heel Height
This is very important because it will determine how long your dress will be and how comfortable you’ll feel. The taller the heel, the more uncomfortable you will be unless the shoe is specially padded. Also, consider how tall your fiancé is and how tall you want to look in relation to him. Finally, if you are set on a specific heel height, don’t forget that shoe manufacturer’s measure heel height differently, and make sure you know how they measure them before you buy your shoes.
2. Color
Finding the right color for your shoes is so hard, but can be so fun. An easy option is to match the shoe color to your dress. A white wedding dress goes great with white wedding shoes. However, another option is to do something different. Gold or silver bridal shoes can add glamour to your look. Champagne or taupe will look great and compliment your outfit well. Finally, if you want to be different, consider a bright color and one that will match your wedding colors and the bridesmaid dresses—red, green, pink, violet—go for it!
3. Style
Determining the right style is up to you. Do you want open or closed toe shoes, strappy shoes or pumps, platform or flats? In the end, go with the style you prefer and one that feels comfortable to you.
